CBR1000RR front-end
- January 25th, 2010
Finally got around to fitting a CBR1000RR front end I had found on eBay some time earlier.
Note: the 08′ and onwards 1000RR front ends use a MUCH larger steering stem bearing that is identical top and bottom. Could be fitted but would need either the VFR headstock machined out to fit (very $$) or for the steering stem to be machined down (may not be possible) and the smaller standard upper VFR bearing used. Other suggestions are to press in an earlier model 1000RR steering stem into the 08′ lower triple clamp but again not easy to do due to the different steering stem diameters at the lower triple (could be be sleeved but again very $$$). It’s a shame as the 08′ front end arrangement is nice being slightly narrower in the fork separation gap and the later model triple’s look super nice but hey there is another solution.
07′ and earlier 1000RR’s use the same steering stem bearings as the VFR. In fact they’re shared by many Honda bikes including some of the earlier XR dirt bike range. The steering stem length is also the same so it becomes an elementary job to fit them.
